Meet Felisita
Meet Felista who is pursuing early Childhood Development
Hello, My name is Felista and I am 22 years old. I am from northern California, and I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of one month old. I have been very lucky to have been in remission for quite a few years.
Since I beat cancer at a very young age with the help of my family, I do not really remember much. All I have is a couple pictures to show what I have been through in my journey of fighting cancer. I am very fortunate enough to have lived the life I have lived. Even though I have beaten cancer, I do have a lot of problems that I dealt with growing up and that still affect me now.
But the good thing is that I have taught myself to work around my problems so it works a lot better for me. I have had numerous surgeries due to bone growth issues with my legs. This is from the chemo and radiation that I experienced at a very young age. Even with these issues, I am able to live my life my way in order to be happy. My favorite thing to do is to workout to keep myself healthy and strong. I also love to cook and bake for myself and my family who I live with. It is just a really nice way to experiment, have fun, and relax at the same time.
Right now, I am currently attending Foothill Community College in Los Altos, California. I am in my first year but I am nearly in my second year. I am majoring in child development and I want to be able to work with children however I can.
Overall, I am very fortunate and especially thankful again to be able to share my story and be able to get the help I need from the Orion Fund Grant.
