Meet Miriam

Meet Miriam, who dreams of becoming a lawyer and advocating for disabled people

My name is Miriam and in my sophomore year of college, I was diagnosed with a form of kidney disease. Having a chronic illness has caused a large financial burden.

Fortunately, I have been awarded The Orion Fund Grant. I plan on using The Orion Fund Grant to pay for medical costs associated with my disease, not covered by insurance. These uncovered costs include insurance premiums, dialysis treatments, nephrologist appointments, blood work, medical prescription, and hospital visits. I no longer stress about my medical bills.

Although my condition is permanent, I have a bright future ahead. With the help of The Orion Fund, I will be able to completely focus on my academics and will graduate with an English degree from the University of California, Berkeley this year. This fall, I will apply to law school in hopes of becoming an attorney and helping other disabled people.
