Microsoft Technology for Social Impact Grant
We are pleased to announce that The Orion Fund has once again qualified for Microsoft’s Technology for Social Impact Grant. This continued support from Microsoft is invaluable to our organization. Our initial grant provided us with professional email addresses (including info@theorionfund.org), email hosting for all members of The Orion Fund, a secure SharePoint drive and collaborative workspace, and ten complimentary Microsoft Office Business licenses. We’re delighted that this grant has now been extended through 2026.
Most importantly, Microsoft’s tools allow us to collaborate securely and efficiently—both internally and externally—as we continue our transition into a more sustainable organization. The Orion Fund serves as a vital resource for students facing health crises at over 70 campuses across California, awarding grants to 45–50 students annually. We have come a long way from the days of planning each grant cycle around a whiteboard in someone’s living room. Today, we are fully integrated into the digital world, enabling us to better serve and engage with our sponsors, donors, campus partners, and students.
To qualify for this grant, The Orion Fund demonstrated its status as a legitimate and responsible nonprofit organization. We are deeply grateful to Microsoft for recognizing the impact of our mission. Every dollar we save on infrastructure allows us to allocate more resources directly to students in need. We are honored by this opportunity and remain committed to supporting students and making a meaningful difference in their lives.
