Welcoming Our New Board Member, Jessica King, Director of Student and Campus Communications
We’re excited to announce the newest addition to our board of directors: Jessica King, who joins us as our Director of Student and Campus Communications.
This strategic role is essential as we continue to deepen our engagement with students and strengthen our presence across educational communities. With Jessica's experience, vision, and passion, we’re confident this new position will expand our ability to help students in health crisis.
Jessica brings a dynamic background in the application of creative storytelling to capture and communicate the challenges of the disabled student population. Most recently, she graduated from Long Beach State University with a double major in Comparative Literature and Creative Writing and a double minor in Human Development and Health Humanities. As a Conoley Pluralism Fellow and Student Scholar, Jessica published “Love Letters of the Chronically Ill -Remembered”, and an anthology of stories from young adult disabled students, “Enabling Disabled Expressions: A Multimedia Anthology of Disabled Narratives”. Jessica is the recipient of several scholarships and awards in her chosen passion of disabled studies; she has presented at several conferences; and has participated in research projects regarding autism and disability social justice.
The Director of Student and Campus Communications is responsible for:
Developing and guiding student and campus-facing communications
Creating inclusive, accessible messaging that reflects the voices of diverse campus populations
Highlighting the impact of our support on our student grantees
We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to The Orion Fund and look forward to the positive and lasting impact she will have on our work and the students we serve.
